My First Time

Yesterday, there was a lot of first times for me. My DH and I went to the 21st Annual Fall Fiber Festival located at the James Madison's Montpelier Station in Orange County, Virginia. My first surprise was that the DH wanted to go. It was a beautiful sunny day for a drive to the country side of town.
In no time we arrived...No doubt I was so excited. Once parked and on the grounds we walked to the first tent...which was souvenirs...didn't need another t-shirt, and sure as heck didn't need another tote bag. Next tent...the most beautiful alpacas I have every laid my eyes on. They are the most gentle, loving, bedroom eyes looking creatures...and fleece so soft Snuggles fabric softer can't compare. I hung out with the little fellows for quite sometimes..daydreaming on how I could start me a little farm of alpacas and not get ticket from (HOA) Homeowners Associates.

My venture through the grounds lead me to tents after tents to vendors with rabbits, sheep, goats, and fibers of all types and spinning wheels.

I didn't purchase any items the first go round..I wanted to see everything and then make my purchases later.
Lunch time brought on more first times...with many choices to choose from..we decided to try some lamb on a bun. Correctly called Lamb Sandwich along with some Fried Sweet Potatoes Fries. There were many people racking up on the Fried Sweet Potatoes Fries... but with Ketchup?!
After a long pray of forgiveness for eating lamb... we dug in...OMG it was so good smothered in BBQ sauce. The Fried Sweet Potatoes were a treat as well, but with no ketchup.

DH decided that he want to sit a moment...and I decided that was my time to score. Off I went starting my rounds all over, and leaving him to sit.
The events itself was so overwhelming..I did have notes written regarding pattern information on what types of yarn needed for what. I bought a nice size skein of 100% alpaca from WovenGems to make the Hanna Cardigan from Coco Knits. I also purchase a skein of Merino Sock yarn from Creatively Dyed Yarns some lucky person will have a pair of beautiful color socks, and may I add the vendor Dianne Lutz was the nicest person. We introduce ourselves to each other..she ask if I was a Ravelry lady...Knitnpretty I am...she gave me a Ravelry button because I didn't have one, I really thought that was kind of her. my last purchase was a drop spindle and 15yds of colorful Roving...on my way to the next phase SPINNING!

In the end I met up with DH watching the Sheep Dog Trial... with goodies in hand...and a good time had by all..we headed home.
